What I Eat In A Day

A food-related blog post is very long overdue so today I'm writing about what I eat on a typical day.

For the most part, I try and eat healthily but I definitely have days when I indulge in my favorite foods like pizza and cupcakes. I'd say about 70% of what I eat is healthy and nutritious and about 30% is unhealthy junk food.

I try my best to prepare home-cooked meals to help keep me on track throughout the workweek. But weekends are usually the days my husband and I eat out and enjoy the foods we don't normally eat which is where that 30% comes in, haha.

On this particular day, I ate a lot of my favorite healthy and nutritional meals. The meals featured in this post I eat regularly and almost daily during the workweek because I am very much a creature of habit and it's no different when it comes to what I eat.

With that said let's get into what I eat in a day!

8:00 AM - For breakfast, I had my usual breakfast taco which consists of seasoned scrambled egg whites and spinach on an Ezekiel tortilla. The seasonings/sauces I use to flavor the eggs are red pepper flakes, Everything Bagel Seasoning, and Cholula hot sauce. On this day I had my taco with a probiotics drink but this varies from day to day sometimes I have a glass of orange juice or plain water.

11:00 AM - Because I exercise regularly I was advised by my fitness trainer to have a protein shake between meals to help supplement my body. This plant-based chocolate protein powder from Orgain {linked here} is my absolute favorite, it's like drinking a dessert it's so yummy. I mix it with water and drink up!

2:00 PM - For lunch, I had a turkey taco salad which consisted of ground turkey seasoned with taco seasoning mix, canned black beans, fresh green onions, tomato, and avocado on a bed of spring mix greens. To give the salad an extra bit of flavor I squeezed half a lime over top.

5:00 PM - Around this time I have my second and final protein shake of the day.

8:00 PM - For dinner, I took half of the ground turkey and black bean mixture from lunch and used it as stuffing for some oven-baked bell peppers. I topped the stuffed bell pepper with chopped tomatoes and lime juice for freshness and extra flavor.

Now, as far as beverages go I usually have water with my lunch and dinner if not that then I'll have a glass of lightly sweetened ice tea if I'm really craving it. But I do make sure that water is my primary source of hydration and that I'm drinking a lot of it throughout the day to help keep me feeling full between meals.

So those are the meals that I had on this particular day. If there are any recipes you'd like to share with me, feel free to leave a comment or leave a link to them in the comments section of this blog below.

I hope you enjoyed today's post. Thank you for visiting my blog today, I appreciate you more than you'll ever know. Until next time friends, take care.
