Over the last few months or so I've been working on building a morning routine that works for me and my needs and after months of trial and error, I've at last found the morning routine that's most efficient!
In this blog post, I'm sharing my morning routine as well as bonus content, a morning routine video, which you can watch below if you prefer to do that instead, that shows me actually going through my routine.
Let me start off by saying that I am not a perfect human and I certainly have days when I snooze the alarm one too many times or don't make my bed because I'm too unmotivated to do so. But I do try my best to stick to this routine during my Monday-Friday workweek because it helps me stay productive, on schedule, and on top of work tasks.
On weekends, I do allow myself to take it easy and sleep in if I feel like my body needs extra hours and I also tend to do less work during these days.
Now with that said, here is what my typical workweek morning routine consists of.
I usually wake up within the 7:00-7:30 AM time window. When I get out of bed, I'm greeted by my dog Loki, who is more times than not, laying on the floor waiting for me to get up. I then head straight into the bathroom where I brush my teeth.
After brushing my teeth, I drink some cold water from my insulated water bottle, then I work on making the bed. I like to make my bed because I love having a neat and tidy space which leads to the next thing in my routine, which is to pick up any clothes, shoes, or miscellaneous items around my bedroom and place them back where they belong.
Once my bedroom is looking nice and clean, I throw on some athleisure to take my dog on a walk. Depending on how busy my mornings are I will either take him for a walk in the mornings or in the evenings so this part of my routine varies, however, the next step of my routine I do whether or not I take him on a walk in the mornings.
On our walk, I like to listen to either my daily affirmations, a podcast, or some music. The daily affirmations I'm currently listening to are these I Am affirmations that I found on YouTube. Podcasts that I constantly have on rotation are Wild 'Til 9, Pretty Basic, Zane and Heath: Unfiltered, and Unlocking Us with Brené Brown. My choice in music depends on how I'm feeling, but lately, I've been obsessed with Planet Her by Doja Cat.
When Loki and I come home from our walk it's around 8:00 AM and I get started on making breakfast. Loki will either get fed before or after I eat breakfast, either way, he doesn't seem to mind.
After breakfast is done, my supplements have been taken, and the dog has been fed. I then start on what I like to call a quick home cleanup. This usually starts in the kitchen with the dishes and ends in me picking up little things left out of place throughout the house, like shoes, clothes, keys, and so on (mainly things left out by my dear husband lol). I like to set a timer for about 20 minutes for this part to help with time management and to keep me on schedule.
Once the house is tidy enough, I try my best to journal. This is the part of my routine that I'm admittedly still struggling to be consistent with. My last journal entry was a little over a week ago on August 30th. But when I do journal, I like to write down what I'm grateful for, what I'm looking forward to, my intentions for the day, and my manifestations.
Then depending on what I have scheduled to do for work on said date will determine whether or not I get fully done up- makeup, hair, and outfit. If it's a day when I'm batching content like filming videos and taking photos I will then start to get ready before starting my workday.
But if I'm sitting at my computer editing content, working on emails, or writing blog posts, captions, etc. I'll skip the makeup and just throw on a cute outfit and do something simple to my hair instead, then start working.
My workday starts between 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM and that ends what I call my morning routine.
All in all, I've found that this routine helps me optimize my productivity before starting work. And most importantly, I feel like it gives me me-time to do things I enjoy like getting out and taking in some fresh air during Loki and I's morning walks, listening to things that bring me joy, tidying my space for mental clarity, and journaling for introspection.
If you've been thinking about wanting to start a morning routine or any routine for that matter, let this be your sign to start!
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading about and/or watching my morning routine. Thank you for taking some time out of your day to visit my blog, I appreciate you more than you'll ever know. Until next time friends, take care!
