My Favorite Met Gala Looks

If you are a lover of fashion and pop culture then you'd know that earlier this week, on Monday, the annual Met Gala took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This year's gala was in celebration of the Costume Institue's latest exhibit, "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion", which set the theme for the galas celebrity attendees.

As I watched the Met Gala live stream on Vogue's website in excitement, I couldn't help but be in complete awe at the beautiful art pieces that walked the carpet that night regardless of wether or not they fit the theme of the event. So in this blog post, I wanted to share some of my personal favorite looks from the biggest night in fashion.

The first thing that came to mind when I saw Iman in this breathtaking Dolce & Gabbana x Harris Reed design was, she looked like a ray of sunshine. Both she and the ensemble were mesmerizing from head to toe!

Model Quannah Chasinghorse provided much-needed Indigenous representation on the Met carpet this night and she looked empowering. She wore this stunning Peter Dundas dress and complimented it with turquoise and silver Navajo jewelry.

Hailee Steinfeld wore this art piece designed by Iris Van Herpen in collaboration with artist Rogan Brown. This dress was constructed using hand and laser-cut layers of Parley Ocean Plastic, individually stitched to form its shape and took over 640 hours to make. Upcycled marine debris has never looked so good!

When I tell you my jaw dropped at the sight of Billie Eilish walking down the carpet in this absolutely divine Oscar de la Renta ball gown, I am not kidding nor exaggerating. The tulle and long train were so dreamy, it reminded me of some of the details from my wedding dress. Maybe that's why I love this look so much, haha.

Yara Shahidi looked like royalty in this beautiful Christian Dior dress and Cartier jewelry. The veil, gloves, and all the accessories in between really completed the look. Her look for this night was inspired by world-renowned performer and activist, Josephine Baker.

Kendall Jenner's Givenchy dress was inspired by Audrey Hepburn's dress from the film My Fair Lady and I think it's stunning. It reminds me of a chandelier but in the best way possible.

THE hot girl herself, Megan Thee Stallion looked fabulous in this soft pink Coach dress. Her dress was inspired by Old Hollywood "with a hot girl twist".

New York Representative Carolyn Maloney wore this "equal rights for women" dress designed by Antonios Couture and it certainly made a political statement this night. The "equal rights for women" embroidery on it says it all along with her "ERA YES" bag which represented her endorsement of the proposed Equal Rights Amendment.

Barbie Ferreira looked ravishing in this pearl-encrusted Jonathan Simkhai gown that channeled Old Hollywood burlesque glamour.

Normani looked striking in this mustard-yellow Valentino ball gown and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

The queen of YouTube, Emma Chamberlain wore this dazzling Louis Vuitton ensemble and she looked spectacular. I also love her makeup and 60's inspired hair.

Olivia Rodrigo was serving "punk rock, yet feminine" in this Saint Laurent look and I think she really pulls off the edgy aesthetic effortlessly.

Lupita Nyong'o's denim dress was designed by Versace and inspired by Brooklyn-born conceptual artist Lorna Simpson. I love the addition of sparkle on the dress and I think her makeup and hair really took this look to the next level.

I can't think of anyone more perfect for this risque, eye-catching, bedazzled Saint Laurent dress than Zoë Kravitz. She and this gown are a match made in heaven.

If it isn't obvious, I am a sucker for anything that sparkles! So this sparkly two-piece designed by Prada on Rita Ora is serving all the glitz.

Emily Blunt's custom Miu Miu gown was inspired by Hedy Lamarr's dress from the film Ziegfeld Girl and I think she looked absolutely magnificent.

Megan Fox looked incredible in this red Dundas dress, Jimmy Choo shoes, and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. She looks so good with bangs too!

Here is Gigi Hadid in Prada. Her entire look reminded me of Jessica Rabbit but in the best way, from the red hair, black opera gloves, makeup, down to the silhouette of the dress, but she of course, still looked so beautiful.

Hailey Bieber wore this jeweled Saint Laurent gown and it is so classic. I love the plunging crystal-studded neckline, the Tiffany and Co. square-diamond necklace and even the sunglasses look cool. She's just someone who can pull anything off.

Kaia Gerber simply exudes pure elegance in this Oscar de la Renta gown inspired by Bianca Jagger's 1981 Met Gala look, originally created by Dior.

Rose, from my favorite K-pop group BLACKPINK, looked beautiful in this custom Saint Laurent look. She made history this night as the first female K-Pop artist to enter the Met Gala. How incredible!

Lili Reinhart awed me in this ethereal Christian Siriano floral gown and Jimmy Choo shoes. Her dress featured flowers of all 50 states which was a nod to the night's theme.

One of my favorite beauty YouTuber's, Nikkie de Jager, also knows as NikkieTutorials, wore this beautiful floral and tulle dress designed by Edwin Oudshoorn Couture. Her look was inspired by the transgender activist Marsha P. Johnson. The bow on the bottom of her dress reads "Pay it no mind", which was Johnson's response to questions she received about her gender.

Jennifer Hudson looked exquisite in this all-red gown designed by AZ Factory. I love how her makeup, nails, and hair finish off her look.

Mary J. Blige looked like a golden goddess in this Peter Dundas dress and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. I love how she's serving sexy in this with the plunging neckline, high side slit, and smokey eye makeup. She looks damn good!

Kate Hudson's pink and feathery Michael Kors Collection dress reminds me of something you'd wear if attending an extravagant slumber party, but I'm here for it. I also love the Lorraine Schwartz jewelry she's wearing.

Ayesha and Stephen Curry looked so cute together! They both wore outfits designed by Jason Bolden that complimented each other's individual looks.

Another adorable couple, Kit Harington and Rose Leslie, from Game of Thrones. Kit wore a custom Saint Laurent suit while Rose wore a beautiful yellow tulle gown by Oscar de la Renta. Their looks were inspired by Old Hollywood glamour and a bit of a modern concept of art deco.

Anok Yai looked dazzling in this figure-hugging celestial crystal Oscar de la Renta gown. Her look was inspired by 1920's entertainer and civil rights activist, Josephine Baker.

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was another Met Gala attendee that sent a political message this night in a Brother Vellies dress that read "tax the rich". What better place to wear this than an event surrounded by some of the most powerful and famous people in the world.

That concludes my round-up of personal favorite looks from this year's Met Gala.
