After countless hours of scrolling through Pinterest and multiple shopping trips later, I've completed the task of styling my shelves and I absolutely love how everything came together in the end! Today I wanted to share a corner of my house that I am loving at the moment and how it all came to be.
When it came down to choosing the pieces to decorate this corner of the house I didn't just want the space to look good, I also wanted it to feel like my husband and I. I achieved that by adding items we previously owned like the musical instruments and books and by adding newer items, which I've linked below for you to shop!
Every item represents my husband and I in one way or another. For example, my husband likes to play guitar, is into cars and enjoys reading about astronomy hence the musical instruments and books. I like plants, art, poetry and reading thus the greenery, watering can, wall art and various other books. We're both believers in positive energy and love traveling hence the globe, light-box and sculpture.
I'm obsessed with this corner, it's the perfect representation of us, all while looking sleek and minimal. Be prepared to see this as my backdrop in every Instagram photo, haha. Thank you for reading todays interior post, hope you have a great weekend. Until next time friends, take care!
"Books give a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything" - Plato
It seemed only right to start todays blog post with an honest quote about books and the power they hold. Books are a great way to escape reality, to tap into our imaginative minds and to gain knowledge about anything and everything. My husband and I both love to read so we went to our local Barnes and Noble to spend the afternoon flipping through the pages of their massive selection of reading material.
Amongst all of the books I picked up three poetic jems:
The literary work of poetry has always been something that's fascinated me. I remember being taught poetry, the different styles of poetry and how to compose a proper poem in my English class. When it came to poetic assignments I aced each one, guess my love and understanding for it came kind of natural.
"Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words" - Robert Frost
I love how expressive poetry can be, the way one can articulate their feelings into beautiful words that flow together with rhythm and genuine emotion. Poetry touches my heart and soul!! There was a point in time where I was so captivated by poetry I'd write any chance I'd get, however these days I find myself reading it instead of writing it.
That afternoon spent in the bookstore inspired me to begin writing poetry again, perhaps it's time I find my way back to expressing myself through rhythmic writing as I once did. Who knows, maybe I'll share my own personal poetry with you some day.
Thank you for reading todays post. Until next time friends, take care!
All summer long I've been in desperate need of the right pair of denim shorts. Ones that are comfortable, not too tight nor too baggy and ones with a classic wash that can be paired with anything! I didn't want to pay full price for a pair of shorts so I thought, why not shop secondhand?
Over the weekend I took a trip to my local Goodwill and was surprised by the selection of clothing they had. I ended up leaving the store with the perfect pair of denim shorts from Old Navy, a comfortable basic t-shirt from Forever21 and a graphic tee which I later cut into a crop top. My total at checkout was an unbelievable $12.43 - $4.99 shorts // $5.99 t-shirt // $0.50 graphic tee!!
Let's just say this won't be the last time I do my shopping at a thrift store! I love every piece that I bought, I can definitely see myself using these pieces over and over again. Hope you enjoyed my Goodwill finds, thank you for reading! If you've never been thrifting I highly recommend it, you never know what goodies you'll find. Until next time friends, take care!
Since purchasing our first home three months ago, I've yet to share any further details about it. Today I thought I'd start by showing you the coziest area in our house, the kitchen! Not much has changed from when we first bought the house, all I've done is dressed it up with a few decorative pieces and accessories.
Striped Towel // Accent Rug // Faux Thyme Plant // Faux Grass Plant // Serving Tray When it came to decorating the kitchen I kept it very minimal, keeping as much of the counter space clean and clutter-free, adding only a couple of faux plants in the corner to add life and color into the space and sticking to a light and neutral color palette to make the area feel as spacious as possible. Our kitchen might be small but we have big plans for it in the future! In the meantime it will stay as is, then later down the road when we're ready to renovate it I will share the final reveal. I hope you enjoyed the first look into my cozy kitchen, stay tuned for more posts like this. Thank you for reading. Until next time friends, take care!
I always get excited when I receive complementary packages from Influenster and this months VoxBox is in partnership with Milk Makeup! I was sent the all new Milk Makeup Blur + Set Loose Setting Powder to test and review, but before I share with you my honest thoughts and opinion on this powder lets first talk about the product details.
The Milk Makeup Blur + Set Loose Setting Powder is an ultra lightweight, matte translucent setting powder that locks your makeup in place while leaving your skin smooth and blurred. The formula is designed to blur pores, imperfections, fine lines and reduce shine without any cakiness, chalky cast or flashback. This Blur + Set powder is cruelty-free, vegan, paraben-free, talc-free, silicone-free and dimethicone-free making it ideal for all skin types, even sensitive and blemish prone skin. Milk Makeup did create three different shades for their translucent powder - Light, Medium and Deep!
As you can see from the photographs above the setting powder comes in a standard plastic jar with a screw-on lid. Inside the jar you'll find a sponge which you can use together with the powder to set your base, a pop-up lid that keeps the powder in its designated place, a mesh and of course the powder itself. The setting powder contains 25g of product and retails for $29 USD.
Now that you know the details I can share with you my personal thoughts, experience and opinion on this new translucent setting powder. Right off the bat, it did a great job at setting all of my liquid and cream base products in place, it removed any unwanted shine from my skin giving me a matte look. I noticed that this powder did not alter the color of my foundation nor did it cling onto any dry patches or acne, it felt very comfortable on the skin and didn't look cakey. I do also believe it blurred the appearance of my pores as well as made my skin appear smoother and softer.
I like the clean and sleek packaging, however I don't really care for the sponge as I typically use a brush to apply my setting powders. I do think the sponge is a great idea for traveling purposes if you do use sponges to apply your powders. I'm also not certain how I'll feel about the mesh once the powder starts running low and I want to get the last of the product, but as of now I don't mind the mesh.
Overall, I was very pleased with the results from the Milk Makeup Blur + Set Loose Setting Powder. I do recommend you give this powder a try if you're looking for a new setting powder as it works very well, is formulated with good ingredients and is cruelty-free.
I hope you enjoyed todays blog post and found my review helpful. Until next time friends, take care!
