Our Holiday Road Trip

Happy New Year!! I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and New Years, I wish every single one of you the best in 2018! ❤

A few days before Christmas, my husband and I along with our family and friends hit the road and headed north for 15+ hours towards the gorgeous state of Colorado. The road trip there wasn't too bad actually, we drove though the night so I slept most of the way. The drive back felt much longer because I was awake most of the time LOL.

The change in scenery and elevation was so refreshing and breathtaking, much different than what I'm use to seeing back home. The cabin in which we stayed in we found on Airbnb, it's location was secluded within the mountains of the Rio Grande National Forest; elevation: over 9,000 feet! My favorite part was all the views, from seeing the Rocky Mountains in the distance to the night sky views of the Milky Way and Orion.

We went skiing at Wolk Creek Ski where I spent most of my time falling on my butt, it was my first time skiing and boy was it tough but I enjoyed the experience. The drive to Pagosa Springs was epic, we drove between massive mountains with beautiful pines covered in snow. We did a bit of local shopping around town and some of us went ice skating while others soaked in the hot springs.

Back at the cabin we'd wake up to the sight of deer early in the morning and we'd also explore around the massive 42 acre property. On the property there was a frozen pond where some would lay and make snow angels and others would try and see who could crack the ice, we played in the snow, hung out around the fire at night and ate s'mores.

Overall it was a great trip, one I'll remember for the rest of my life. I really enjoyed disconnecting from the world and being one with nature. It felt cleansing in a way, breathing in crisp fresh air and hydrating with cold water from the water well.

I really liked experiencing the country side of Colorado, it was eye opening and humbling. I'd definitely like to go back and experience a different side of the state [the city] perhaps some day in the future. In 2018 I certainly want to do more traveling and be more adventurous.

Stay tuned for my next blog post where I'll talk about my goals and resolutions for the new year.

Until next time friends, take care!
