New Products + First Impressions

Over the weekend my best friend and I did some much needed retail therapy. We decided to go to the Houston Galleria for our shopping adventure because it has every store you can think of under one roof! Our first stop was Sephora (of course) and as you guys know, if you read my previous post, I've been wanting to try out a couple of Fenty Beauty products.

The products that really caught my eye from Rihanna's cosmetic line is the foundation, universal lip gloss and the highlighters. I ended up only purchasing a highlighter duo from the collection because a few days prior to this I was actually on the Sephora website and saw that they had a mini set of her universal lip gloss and a killawatt highlight for under $25 (I couldn't pass that up) so I purchased it online. I'll write a post all about it as soon as I get it in the mail.

Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo in Lighting Dust/Fire Crystal • Available here
I swatched all of her highlighters and my favorite one was this one, it's in the shade Lighting Dust/Fire Crystal. The other one that I really liked was Mean Money/Hu$tla Baby but the highlighter in the mini set I ordered includes the shade Hu$tla Baby so I didn't purchase it at the store.

My first impression of this highlight upon using it is that it applies on the skin smoothly, the pigmentation is blinding and it's soooo pretty!! I only dipped my highlighting brush into the product once and to me, that was enough, as I said it's very pigmented. Lightning Dust (left) is a much softer highlight it gives the apperance of a glow from within as where Fire Crystal (right) is much more intense and gives that beaming/blinding look. I used each shade individually on different parts of my face but I combined them when I applied it to my cheekbones.

I also asked for a sample of the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation because I wanted to try it out first before buying it. I picked the shade 180 based on the color description on the website (for light skin with warm undertones), I really wanted to try out 190 but they were sold out of that shade. I didn't get a chance to wear the foundation but I'll update you guys on how it wore and give you my thoughts in my next post so keep an eye out for that.

For the past year I've been using the Origins Checks and Balances face cleanser to wash my face and I had just ran out so I needed to repurchase a new skin cleanser. I like the Origins face wash, it does a great job at removing my makeup and cleansing my skin but I wanted to try something different. As we were waiting in line to check out my best friend pointed this facial cleanser out and said she'd used it in the past and loved it so I picked it up and brought it home; I bought the mini size.

First impression: I used this facial cleanser after a long day of wearing full glam and it did an excellent job at removing all my left over makeup. You need more of this product than you do of the Origins face cleanser to really clean the skin. It lathers well, you just need to make sure you use a fair amount (nickel sized amount). After rinsing off the product it left my skin feeling soft to the touch, I really like that it's gentle and suitable for sensitive skin and that it's fragrance-free. So far so good, I will continue to use it and see what differences I see in my skin.

For about a year or two I've had my heart set on this perfume, the thing that's held me back from purchasing it for myself is the price point (it's very expensive). When I saw that they had this travel duo set for $35 I had to get it. This travel set includes a 7.4mL perfume bottle, a 14.8mL refill bottle and a funnel to refill the perfume bottle; that's a total of 22.2mL combined for $35. This duo set was a much better deal compared to the travel spray, the travel spray only contains 7.5mL and retails for $30. This little guy has more product for less.

My favorite type of fragrances are sweets and florals and this perfume gives me both. It smells divine, lasts all day long and a little bit of this goes a long way. If you're into florally sweet fragrances I highly suggest you go to your local Sephora and smell this; it's amazing, you'll love it!

Tatcha Water Cream • Available here

This Tatcha Water Cream was a beauty insider rewards item that I knew I had to get, I've heard so much about how amazing this product is online so I wanted to try it out for myself. I'm honestly so thankful that this was a beauty insider item because the original sized product is so expensive! This cream is targeted for normal to oily skin, perfect for my skin type, and it is said to be a solution for dryness, pores, dullness and uneven texture. It contains pure and powerful ingredients that delivers nourishment to the skin.

First impression: You only need a tiny amount of this for your entire face. Upon massaging it onto the skin it feels very hydrating and cooling. The product is light, silky and refreshing, it absorbs nicely into the skin and doesn't leave your face feeling sticky or greasy. I was amazed by how little I needed and how great my skin felt after using this. I will definitely continue to use this daily and hope to see improvement in my skins texture.

These super cute pins are also a beauty insider reward that I needed to get because look at how cute they are! These collectible pins were 250 points and you can still get these if you're a beauty insider. I just had to share because I think they're adorable.

I hope you enjoyed todays blog post! Keep an eye out for my next post where I'll be sharing with you my thoughts on the Fenty Beauty foundation and the mini lip gloss and highlight set. Until next time friends, take care!
