Milk Makeup Luminous Blur Stick Review

Sunday morning I woke up to a surprise package in the mail from Influenster and inside was the brand new Milk Makeup Luminous Blur Stick. I love trying out new products so naturally I wanted to immediately put it to the test and so I did.

If you're familiar with the brand Milk Makeup, you'd know that their original Blur Stick is their best-selling mattifying primer, well this new Luminous Blur Stick is essentially like the original but with the add-on of illuminating shimmer for a luminous effect. This new primer blurs the look of pores and fine lines and it also absorbs oil to keep the skin matte. The formula is silicone-free, oil-free and it won't clog your pores. I'd also like to mention that Milk Makeup is cruelty-free and vegan. :)

My initial thoughts when I took the product out, examined it and read over the information was a bit of confusion. I thought to myself "how can something that's luminous also be matte?" when the two tend to contradict each other.

I swiped the product onto the back of my hand to get a feel for it and to see what it looked like on the skin. Upon touching the back of my hand it felt very soft and smooth, the shimmer was a very subtle light golden pearl shade, it didn't feel sticky or gritty. (I wish I could get it to pick up on camera but it's very subtle)

Before applying it onto my skin in preparation for makeup, I washed my face with the First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser and moisturized with the Tatcha Water Cream. Once all of the skincare was absorbed onto my skin I began my makeup application.

I'm not going to lie I was a little scared to swipe this all over my face, my skin is very oily so I couldn't see how adding an illuminating primer to my skin would keep it matte but I did it anyway. Once the primer was blended onto my skin it did give off a nice luminous look, it wasn't intense or crazy, it was subtle and I liked it. When I looked close up in my magnified vanity mirror I honestly couldn't see a major change in the look of my pores, this could have been due to the fact that I was distracted by the luminosity happening on my face, but all of that changed when I applied my foundation.

My Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation worked so well on top of this primer I was actually shocked at how good my foundation looked in combination with the Luminous Blur Stick. It really did make my skin look smooth and my pores were blurred, I was amazed! The luminosity slightly peaked through my foundation and provided my skin with a bit of a glow which was pretty. I was loving how my makeup was looking so I continued with my normal makeup routine.

After I completed my makeup I was still taken back by how my base looked. The primer didn't give me any issues while I was doing my makeup, everything laid nicely and it looked fantastic. The true test was to see if it could actually absorb oil and keep my skin looking matte throughout the day.

Later in the day I ran errands and then drove to my parents house for Sunday dinner. I wore my makeup for about six hours and did not touch up once. At my parents house I looked into a mirror and was blown away by the fact that my skin was actually matte after having my makeup on for at least four hours at that point. When I got home I took a look in the mirror again and it still looked great!

I was skeptical about this product in the beginning but by the end of the day my mind completely changed, this primer is awesome! I will certainly continue to use this because it worked so well with my makeup and my skin, I didn't get any negative reaction from using this.

You guys know that my current favorite primer is the Smashbox Pore Minimizing Primer but I think the Luminous Blur Stick could very easily take it's place.

I highly recommend this product to anyone and if you're a fan of the original definitely give this one a try. The Luminous Blur Stick primer is suitable for all skin types and as you guys just read it's freaking amazing! You can also use this primer on its own for an all over glow.

I hope you enjoyed today's beauty product review. Thank you to Influenster for the package! :) I received this product complimentary for review purposes however this is my own honest review and opinion. I'm going to work on a showdown post on this primer versus my current favorite and I'll also film a video on this Luminous Blur Stick so that you guys can see how it wears, similar to what I did in this post. Keep a lookout for those, they'll be up soon. Until next time friends, take care!
