My Current Go-To Makeup + Story Time

It's been a hot minute since I've shared a beauty post here on the blog, but the day has come!

Today I'm sharing my current go-to makeup look that I've naturally been gravitating towards for the last month or so. This is the look I create when I want to look put together, and feel cute, but don't want to overthink the process.

There's actually a story-time behind this makeup look and when I realized that this look became my go-to; literally no one asked for this but here it is haha.

STORYTIME

On this day my husband and I went out to shoot content for Instagram and I only had about 30 minutes to get ready because the sun was going to set soon and I was rushing through the process. When I was all done, I was like "oh wow, I love how my makeup looks today." Funny enough it looked way better than when I actually took my time with my makeup the night before when we went out. I legit sat in front of my mirror doing my makeup for what felt like two hours and it did not look too good. 😂

When I shared this with my husband, he brought up a very solid point which leads to my "AH-HA!" moment where I thought, "this must be my go-to makeup look". His point was that when I have time to get ready I overthink the makeup process, as in I'll try new things and use more products. And when I'm on a time crunch I don't have time to overthink the process, I just do what feels natural and I usually use fewer products which more times than not, results in better-looking makeup.

So the moral of the story for me is - less is more. Another takeaway I had from this was not to experiment with new techniques when I'm about to leave my house because it could go wrong. Instead, I'll practice new makeup tricks/trends/hacks when I have nowhere to go, and I need to learn what products sit well together and which don't. 🙃

But anyway, below is the list of makeup products that I used to create this look along with links.

From what I've gathered over the years of wearing makeup, using multi-purpose products, like bronzer and highlighter as eyeshadow, on a time crunch is the way to go. It looks so pretty, natural, and effortless. I've also found that eyelash extensions help to look more together, much quicker, but I know that's not always an option. But when I do have them on I don't even bother with eyeshadow at all, saving more time when getting ready.

This style of makeup is probably going to be my go-to for the remainder of spring and upcoming summer simply because I personally think it's light and easy. The cc cream is practically skincare and SPF, the concealer covers spots that the cc cream won't, the blush, bronzer, and highlight adds natural color and life to the skin, while the powder helps to diminishes unwanted shine. Then the eyes and lip products are more or less interchangeable.

What do you think of my current go-to makeup? Let me know in the comments section of this blog post. Also, let me know if you've also experienced better makeup days when rushing as opposed to taking your time? I'd love to know that I'm not the only one who goes through this more times than not. Haha!

Thank you so much for taking some time out of your day to read my blog post, I appreciate you so very much. Sending you all lots of light and love. Until next time friends, take care!

xo, Your Girl Jess
