When talking about makeup, particularly base products its important to mention the skin-prep used prior to the foundation application as it does play a role in the longevity and overall performance of the makeup. For skin prep I used the Prescriptives Super Line Preventor Xtreme, as I mentioned in the video this serum has been working so well for my skin. I've seen an improvement in texture and appearance over the course of a few days, another thing that I really appreciate are the ingredients in this serum. I'll have a dedicated blog post talking all about this product, but if you're interested in reading more about this serum you can click here and if you'd like to purchase this serum I do have a 30% off discount code that you can use at checkout to save you some money! Before giving you my final thoughts and review on this foundation and setting powder it's important for me to address my skin-type for reference. I have oily, acne prone skin with hyper-pigmentation.
So you guys know that the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation has been my holy grail for the past three years and I kid you not when I say that this foundation might be it's new replacement. I wore the Power Play foundation in the shade G30 for the second time to an outdoor music festival for nine hours in 87 degree heat! It was so hot out, I was sweating, dancing and it literally did not melt off. By the end of the festival my foundation was still on and it looked great - I was shocked!! This foundation is full coverage so I had no issues with my hyper-pigmentation peaking through, my oil was under control (thanks to the combination of this foundation and the setting powder). The Power Play foundation is available in 40 shades so you're guaranteed to find your perfect color match! The finish of this product is a comfortable, weightless matte. It's also vegan and cruelty-free. This CoverFX Power Play Foundation retails for $44 and contains 1.18oz of product (a bit more than the average foundation).
I also wore the Perfect Setting Powder in Light Medium to the music festival along with the foundation and both the powder and foundation are a match made in heaven for my skin. I really like that this setting powder does not alter the color of my foundation, some setting powders I've used in the past lightened my base, this one did not. It goes on evenly and leaves my skin looking and feeling smooth. I didn't take any photos wearing this foundation so I can't attest to the no flashback claim (I'll update you on this). As I mentioned I have really oily skin and this setting powder paired with the Power Play foundation really kept my oils at bay and kept my base in place all day long. I also really like the packaging of this powder, it has a screw-on cap with a liftable lid inside to keep the powder from going everywhere when you're traveling with it (I show you this in the video). The color of this powder is a perfect neutral, it's not too pink or too yellow. They do carry this setting powder in two shades, Light Medium and Medium Deep. Another great fact about this powder is that it's 100% talc free as well as vegan and cruelty-free. The CoverFX Perfect Setting Powder retails for $35.
Overall this foundation and setting powder worked amazing for me and my needs. I'm definitely going to continue to use both products! Thank you to Influenster for introducing me to what could potentially be my new favorite combo.
